Form Thinks First
Form is an answer to the logic of a space. So we listen to your story and test function, relation, circulation, light and air before deciding how it looks.
Four steps in every project
- Listen
A story session with the owner. The references you bring, Pinterest included, are read together as a first language.
- Frame
The Spatial Brief: needs, priorities and limits written up for you to check and agree before design starts.
- Form
Site analysis, zoning, circulation and climate studies, then massing and material.
- Deliver
Coordinated construction drawings, regular support and handover with as-built records.
These timings reflect the average of the projects we have designed. The phases and their length for your project are set together in the proposal, according to its scale and complexity, and may shift with site conditions, permits and decisions along the way.
Phases, timing and outputs
Durations are estimates for a full scope and are set for your project in the proposal.
- Phase 0Brief & proposal
Story session, framing of needs, and a design-fee proposal per phase in line with IAI guidance.
Spatial Brief - Phase 1Concept
Project data, site analysis, zoning, massing, and an architecture–interior moodboard.
± 2 weeks - Phase 2Schematic
Plans, elevations, sections, circulation and daylight studies, materials and 3D preview.
± 4 weeks - Phase 3Construction drawings
Coordinated architecture, structure and MEP drawings, specifications and bill of quantities support.
± 5 weeks - Phase 4Interior design & development
Layouts, custom furniture, lighting and finishes, developed alongside the architecture.
± 8 weeks, in parallel - Phase 5Handover
Periodic site support through construction, then handover (BAST) with as-built records.
BAST
These timings reflect the average of the projects we have designed. The phases and their length for your project are set together in the proposal, according to its scale and complexity, and may shift with site conditions, permits and decisions along the way.

FAQ
How is the design fee set?
Per phase and in proportion to the scope and value of the work, following IAI guidance. You receive a written proposal after the story session and the Spatial Brief, before anything is signed. We do not publish fixed prices because no two projects are alike.
What is a story session?
A conversation of about 45 minutes, at the studio or online, where we listen to how you live or work, what you hope for and what worries you. It is the start of your Spatial Brief.
Can I bring references or a Pinterest board?
Yes, please. References are a first language. We read them together to understand what you like and why, then translate that into spatial decisions.
Do you work outside Bandung?
Yes. Our work spans Jakarta, Bogor, Tangerang, Surabaya, Makassar, Labuan Bajo and more. Site visits outside Bandung are planned in the proposal.
How long does a project take?
About four months for a full design scope, from concept to construction drawings, with interior design running in parallel. The schedule for your project is set in the proposal.
How will I follow my project?
Through your project portal at project.formspatial.id: the timeline, drawings and documents, approvals recorded by version, meeting notes and payment terms. You can also approve drawings directly there.
Do you also support construction?
Yes. Periodic site support is part of a full project, through to handover (BAST) with as-built records.
